Hartville Pet Insurance Group Shows That It's One of a Kind
Staff delivers $2,500 donation, volunteers at local shelter
As part of its ongoing commitment to the Akron community, Hartville Pet Insurance Group recently made a $2,500 donation and volunteered at One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Akron, Ohio.
More than 30 Hartville employees spent the better part of the day assisting with cleaning the facility, sorting out materials needed for the kennels and helping with the laundry. They also provided some exercise and socialization for dogs at the end of the day.
"For our employees, pets aren't just a job they are a way of life and we make it a point to encourage a spirit of volunteerism here at Hartville," said Hartville Senior Vice President Dennis Rushovich. "It's also great to have our parent company support our volunteer efforts with a $2,500 donation to One of a Kind Pet Rescue."
Located on West Market Street, One of a Kind Pet Rescue has approximately 200 cats and 70 dogs. They rescue the most at-risk dogs in the community – those who've wound up at the city shelters with a medical condition. Founded in 2005, One of a Kind Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization funded by private donations. The organization is dedicated to saving animal lives, spaying/neutering, rescuing pets in imminent danger of euthanasia and adoption of homeless animals into appropriate, loving homes.
"What a wonderful opportunity for our employees to be able to spend a day at an organization like One of a Kind Pet Rescue," said Hartville Chief Marketing Officer Liz Watson. "We might be a national insurance provider, but we love this community. And even though we're still getting settled into our new offices here in Akron, it's important to foster relationships with local institutions that are dedicated to helping pets in need."
